Trail Rides

Why Ride?

This is what it’s all about — the Trail Ride.

TFK Marin takes agencies that work with underserved kids on scenic day-long trail ride adventures in gorgeous local, state and national parks where they learn bike skills, self-confidence, how to lead a healthy lifestyle and environmental awareness. Most of all, TFK Trail Rides provide the opportunity for kids to just be kids!

Teachers and agency personnel tell us that they see noticeable differences in the kids that join our outdoor rides, including:

  • Greater confidence that carries over to the classroom with improved academic performance, better grades and healthier, happier social
  • Deeper understanding and appreciation of nature.
  • Increased understanding of the benefits of exercise and good nutrition.
  • A connection with often-hard-to-reach youth.
  • Kids notice improved fitness levels, especially those who’ve
    participated in multiple rides.
We lead Trail Rides
throughout the Bay Area

“The harsh reality is that many of our program participants come from economically disadvantaged backgrounds. Without Trips for Kids many of our students would not have the opportunity to ride a bike, let alone learn bike safety and repair…As a result students do a better job of focusing on their homework and participating in other programs.”

Director of Operations, Boys and Girls Club

Schedule a Trail Ride

Going for a ride is easy. After you’ve registered, just bring the riders and lunch and we’ll provide the rest: bikes, ride leaders, helmets, gloves and water bottles. We take trips nearly every day, year-round. The cost of a ride to an agency is $40 for a “Single Ride” (4 – 8 youth and up to 2 staff) and $75 for a “Double Ride” (9-16 youth and up to 4 staff).

Safety is of utmost importance to us. In addition to being expert mountain bikers, all our ride staff are trained in CPR and first-aid. To further ensure safety, we require:

  • Children know how to ride a bike and how to use hand brakes.
  • Participants must be 4’6″ or taller due to sizes of bikes in our fleet.
  • Prior to joining any ride, each child’s guardian/participant MUST read, complete and sign a permission form.

All Permission Forms must be submitted to your Ride Leader on the day of the ride.

“Today was the first time I’ve ever mountain biked, and it was a very fun experience. I learned a lot about myself, I learned my limits, and how comfortable I feel with myself. What I liked most about the ride was just being around nature. The nature around me helped me relax and just let go of things I have going on at home, and the scenery was very beautiful.”
